"Jesus Is Back, and She's Chinese
A bizarre religious sect is preying on China's rural Christian congregations"--headline from Time Asia.

Makes me want to really get through the Linguistics book I picked up, so I can get to Manufacturing Consent by Noam Chomsky. (Far too many books on my to-read shelf these days.)

Great review of Shallow Hal at Salon.com.

I keep forgetting about Salon.com. Their commentary is some of the best I've come across.

Oh, what the hell...

A favorable review of K-PAX, from Roger Ebert. (He gives this film 3 stars. He also gave Shallow Hal three stars, and a favorable review.)

K-PAX, though I saw it weeks ago and have not spoken about it, was one of the most touching, blow-you-away kind of movies I saw this year.

Some reviewer at the NY Post called it a "load of New Age-y hogwash." Jeez... that's a little harsh, doncha think? I mean, review the movie--don't round up a posse of popular opinion, demanding it be lynched.

I'm actually thinking the unthinkable. Or, what for me has been the unthinkable since November 1995.

But I'm remembering that not all of my bridges have been burned in my past. I have a car now. And a quickly garnered $600 would be oh so very timely.
