MSNBC: "A tremendous win." AP: A "rout."
Jan. 26th, 2008 06:40 pmThe polls in South Carolina close in twenty minutes.
Anyone on my FL from that esteemed state?
Edit: MSNBC calls the primary for Obama, stating he's taken 1st place "by a substantial margin." With 3% of the votes counted, Obama leads HRC 53% to 32%. That is a crushing lead.
Obama received, according to exit polls, 80% of the black vote.
2nd edit: 99% in. Obama maintained his margin of victory and beat Clinton by nearly 30%. Thirty points, people! (Gave a pretty good speech, too.)
Around 60% of primary voters said Bill Clinton's comments affected the way they voted. (I am very disappointed in Mr. Clinton's conduct in this past week, especially his "Jesse Jackson" comment. Bob Herbert at NYT chimes in.)
Edwards continues and will compete in Super Tuesday.
A record 530,000 people voted in SC's primary.
