Wow, thanks for the link about The Naked Face. I had to make myself keep going a couple times, but I'm really glad I did. (Not least for the arc of the opening and closing incidents to the article.)
This ties in with what I'm trying to learn in my photography, how to get beyond "camera face" -- the face we put on when the camera comes up for a snapshot. I just read last night about Guillaume Duchenne, in Train Your Gaze (http://www.powells.com/biblio/1-9782940373376-0).
