How do you feel about funerals?

I prefer wakes.

I've had bad experiences with aggressive priests saying horrible things.

Unless it's too far away, I pretty much always go when invited, but I've not been invited to anyone where that would be controversial, anyway.

I'm generally support for someone else - rarely has someone in my own life died.

I have actually never been to one. I was supposed to goto my boss's funeral some years back, and became physically ill a couple hours before the service. I think the stress of having seen him post-stroke/pre-death got to me.

I was supposed to attend a memorial service for a friend's infant daughter this weekend, but none of us are speaking to her husband, and my own stress made me feel my attendance would have been detrimental.

I have a lot of personal guilt about not going to funerals.

You can unscreen if you like. How you *you* feel about them?

I was thinking of them as one of life's inescapable ceremonies. I'm much better at handling them now than when I was young.
