Which of the old Dr. Who scores, the 1963, the 1980, the 1986 or the 1987? ;-)
The new one is pretty close - modernised and has sort of extra fluty instrumental bits in the background, but close enough to send a shiver up my spine when it first came on.
I think it was 1980, maybe 86/87...damn i didn't realize they had changed so often. Thanks for the heads up i'm going to find them all online an compare!
Years ago I heard a dance club mix of the Dr. Who theme and it sent chills down my spine. The new version of the theme has all the basic sound with just a bit of extra oomph!
reading rainbow, hands down. the woman who sang it, tina fabrique, does a lot of work at my work and every time i see or hear her i want to sing at the top of my lungs "IIIIIIIIIIII CAN GO ANYWHERE!"
Of course, I can't bring it to mind at the moment, but I believe my favorite TV theme song is that of Barney Miller, because it starts out so serenely and then ramps up into funky 70s stuff.
Honorable mentions include The Greatest American Hero, Welcome Back Carter, Diff'rent Strokes, The Facts of Life, and Family Ties.
