What odd things do you obsess over?

I collect every single receipt. And keep them for two years.

I log all money spent in various financial logs (household, bills, taxes, spending, etc.) and I only keep the receipts I will need later (for purposes of warranty or for tax claims, insurance billing, etc.)

Two years? You think that's sufficient?!

You're being sarcastic, aren't you? :)

NO. I have receipts from 1995.

No, I keep receipts for two years, bills & tax forms for seven. All else gets shredded.

Well, that's better. I really don't need to keep the ones from '95 anymore. I just haven't gotten around to shredding them.

Oh, and I keep pay stubs for seven years, too.

So you don't obsess over these things. That's good. :)

So what do you obsess over?

I am constantly making sure that there is enough space around me for people to get by.

See, I appreciate this. Because there are many people who are oblivious to this type of thing. I had a hell of a time at Dance in the Streets (in downtown AA last Sunday) because people just didn't care that they were in your path or coming into your sphere. Uck.

When I walk to or from work, I try to be cognizant of runners/joggers and bicyclers: I'll move onto the grass so they don't have to (just courtesy for the joggers; why break their stride? & safety for the bikers).

I wonder if you would have this obsession in another culture (one that didn't insist on six feet of personal space for each person).

I can tell you that when I was in Japan, I got freaked out a few times because this personal space thing was absent over there in places like public transportation. It was kind of an "ignore that it's happening, and then resume the not-touching rules when it's over".

I've always been a big guy, and always felt the bull in the china shop. So, I get paranoid about being in others' way, or standing in walkways, or leaving stuff on the floor in walkways. Just a quirk.

Wish we could change your compulsion to getting a good night's sleep most nights of the week.

All my hangers match the clothes hanging on them. I only partially dry most laundry, and hang it up to dry (on those matching hangers) including underwear.

I always install straight-slot screws with the slot perfectly verticle so it looks neat and doesn't collect dust.

I adjust pictures to hang straight in public places and other people's homes (when no one is looking of course).
