Part of the problem with Christianity (as it is understood today) is that it is infused with hero worship. "Jesus is the Savior, we will give Him these accolades, etc., etc."
If one really knows Christ, there ceases to be any hero worship. Adoration and love, yes. But not admiration from afar, not admiration of works or place in the historical record.
