This post in feminist talks about natural black hair and how Glamour magazine has deemed it bad for the office. In the ensuing discussion, it comes to light how derailing a topic can occur in the most innocuous of ways by the most well-meaning people.

I didn't read the ensuing thread but this is my favorite comment:

"yes, but i think it would be nice to have a discussion about shit black women have to deal with without white women coming in with, "oh but i suffer too!!!" "

That pretty much was the comment to which I was referring.

Another user suggested that the person start a new post, but she was too defensive indignant to do so by then.
