One of the hazards of living in a semi-arid zone. Glad to live in a state where out of control fires are quite rare. There's an area that's mostly regrown near Sarah's hometown where there was a forest fire. Fortunately the fire didn't get into the town. She's got pictures of her six year old niece Katie standing in a burned out area that a friend took. The little blonde girl is quite a contrast to the blackened trunks of the pines.
I think Katie and the new trees have grown at similar rates. The new growth is close to six feet high, and Katie's probably 5' 9". Amazing what 14 years can do.
There's definitely a poem or two in there somewhere, waiting to be written.
