Dec. 14th, 2006 02:10 pmSome of you know that one of our senators has been hospitalized with stroke-like conditions.
It's a politcal concern because the state where he serves, South Dakota, is governed by Mike Rounds, a Republican. He might appoint a Republican senator in his place, which would put the Senate back to 50/50 with Cheney breaking the tie (remember those days?). However, there are laws that state that appointments can occur only due to death or resignation.
I hope the surgery went well and that the senator recovers soon.
