I think that it will be a long time before they call for the draft to be reinstated. They have learned a lot from 25 years of an all-volunteer force, and a principle finding is that a person who volunteers for a job is a lot more likely to actually do that job than someone who was dragged into it. They spend a lot less money on finding AWOLs and making people do jobs they didn't sign up for than they did fifty years ago. They like that. It's much more likely that they'll continue the programs of very large signing bonuses and even larger re-enlistment bonuses that have emerged in the past couple of years.
I expect them to open the doors to quasi-legal aliens, myself. If they don't already have Spanish-speaking battalions, I expect they will soon. Of course, they *need* Arabic-speaking ones, but that would make too much sense.
In any case, they'll spend their money bribing people to enlist, rather than creating military prisons for people who wish they were elsewhere.
