b-day update

netmouse came to fetch me for a party, and when I greeted her at the door, she had a bouquet of flowers for me. I was very surprised, and they are very lovely.
rikhei also saw me that night and slid me a Border's gift card.
This morning, my mom gave me a kiss, and my dad gave me Assassination Vacation by Sarah Vowell.
I totally wasn't expecting anything at work, but my coworker gave me a vanilla bean candle. Okay, it's not made out of vanilla beans. And my supervisor gave me a cup & saucer set of fine china. There is a pink rose featured on it, much like the live ones in the bouquet thatnetmouse gave me.
Tonight,dionysus1999 and sarahmichigan treated me to dinner at Seva (a wonderful vegetarian restaurant in downtown Ann Arbor), then spirited me away for a short time at karaoke.
On the other side of the equation, I spent money on boxes for the move at my workplace (for which I'll be reimbursed, granted) and I spent much of my time at work putting things into boxes. I didn't get out of there until after 6:00.
All in all, a weirdly nondescript but quite enjoyable birthday. Thank you to everyone who wished me well--it was a very nice day indeed.
