It has been three months since I last took any DXM.
I don't suffer from cravings anymore, not really, not the urgent, compulsive feelings I used to have. I do still think about it, though. Often in a wistful way. I miss it.
I hope in a few more months I will be in a position where I can use it again in a ceremonial context. Because what I miss most about it is the connection it gave me to what I sense as the Divine. In the proper context, I think I may yet be able to use DXM in a responsible (i.e., non-recreational) fashion.

congrats.
at least i'm doing less...and with more caution.....
for many "addicts" drug use feels like connection to the divine. I know it does for me. that peace that i can't seem to obtain other wise, the high that takes me in it's warm comforting arms.
i'm sitting at work, envious of your strengh, but feeling like i'm feigning just the same
Re: congrats.
Well, I can't say that, either. :) I haven't abstained from everything. (Perhaps I would be prouder of myself if that were the case.)
Cautious is good.

I think you can connect with the Divine in another way.

Most people who are against the use of entheogens are against drugs of all sorts. Those who are okay with the use of drugs, that they would be against the use of entheogens doesn't make any sense to me.

The other rationale is that drugs are the "easy" way to reach enlightenment, and that it's preferable to teach yourself to touch the divine or alter your consciousness sans drugs FIRST. Then, if you want to experiment with chemically-assisted magical practice, go ahead. But it's nice to have access to non-drug methods because the ritual drugs might not always be accessible, but the non-drug techniques are.
I'm not saying I wholly agree with that rationale, I'm just saying that I think it's coherent, rational, and reasonable (for some, anyway).

why not nitrous or ketamine or ibogaine or another glutamate NR1A antagonist (out of all of those I realise that only ketamine is a sigma-1 agonist while ibogaine is a sigma-2 agonist).
