project

My project to transfer my CD collection to my laptop is nearly completed. I have a few titles packed up from my last major move--somewhere (maybe my sister's basement). I really miss those albums: it wasn't until I commenced with this project that I realized how much not having Beck's Guero & Midnite Vultures leaves a hole in my library.

I have over 115 different artists represented. I love being able to see how eclectic my collection really is. Kronos Quartet sidles alongside Karyn White, Kool Moe Dee, L.T.D., Led Zeppelin, Lionel Richie, Live, Lorenna McKennitt & Luther Vandross. Peabo Bryson & Pearl Jam rest side by side, as do Space Ghost & Steely Dan. Afro Celt Sound System & Al Jarreau start the alphabet, where Yanni & Yo-Yo Ma represent the close.

Is your music library varied, or do you tend to stick to a small handful of genres?

So very varied. I'm sure there are unrepresented genres, but not any I can easily think of.

242 artists. I tend to be completist with many of them; I own every Cirque du Soleil album, for example.

I think my genres are narrower than many people's. I have several "modes" which can be defined by my Pandora channels: relaxing, dancing, rocking out, and so on.

My taste in music is diverse...only a couple genres that I like little of (violent rap, old whiney country, elevator music...)

I haven't been buying much since they stopped telling me (usually) who I am listening too..ok...partly get to make up my mind too.

So, music in the rack at moment, classic, heavy rock, light rock, native american, country rock, easy listening, disco, humor, etc and a whole lot that I have no idea how to classify it.

You are ahead of me..I get to buy the machine that converts lps and cassettes.

I miss my lps too. So many tunes they changed the sound or just changed them, when they remastered for cds. I don't like the change. I miss the original sound.

Do you notice a difference? Is it just me?

thanks for sharing...would love to see/hear your collection.
