(no subject)

It's too bad that the poetic equivalent of a still-life is usually boring.

What examples are you thinking of?

I consider Haikus to be analogous to still-life paintings, and they do not bore me. Then again, I know some people who hate haikus, so it's all relative.

I think I'm just complaining about my own poetry.

I'm more talking about taking an object in a room and writing about it. Sometimes it can be interesting, but still life just isn't poetic. The poet must supply something over and above what is simply sitting there.

The only poetry that has ever gotten my attention is that which reached right through my skin, into my gut, and twisted it until I could NOT ignore its effect on me.

I would put virtually all of the poetry I've seen you post in that category, which basically makes you one of my favorite poets.

*blush* Well, thank you. :)
