What happens if things worsen and they are unable to act? As someone said today on the news, you can't offer rates in the negatives: you can't pay someone to borrow money from you.
That's where we get into the government just directly hiring people to do work. Hopefully, we can work on things like electric and hydrogen cars, public transit and improved railroads, so we can stop sending half a trillion dollars a year out of our economy for oil. I'm glad people are starting to realize that's an economic problem and not just environmental.
